It’s our last day in Tuscany! Some of you might know Jack & I have been on the yearlong honeymoon and spent the final month in Florence – giving me lots of reasons to gush over a lot of beautiful Tuscan weddings (have you see this Siena stunner a week ago?!)
Today’s real wedding from your friend Facibeni Fotografia features, among the best (and most apparent, for me) good reasons to get married within the Italian countryside – the meals. Bride, Laura is Italian herself, and Groom Tim clearly through an admiration of the things Italian took great care in planning their Tuscan menu.
Hiring a nearby, family-run caterer, the pair included Tuscan fare, local berries for his or her incredible naked wedding cake & the cutest gelato cart that I think – people need.
True for their exchange of cultures, the destined couple also included details using their current home & meeting place – London. The best & most breathtaking example? Laura’s feminine embellished Jenny Packham gown & veil previously worn by Tim’s mother & sister.
We met within the library at law school and immediately shared an association. Our first conversation was really more of a debate, and that we were impressed each and every other’s capability to keep the other one on the toes!
Tim proposed in my experience on the garden square in London ,where we live; it had been a cold winter’s evening illuminated by Christmas lights and only agreed to be perfect.
As an English and Italian couple, we knew we wanted our wedding in Tuscany where we quite often spend our summers and, for all of us, embodies romance. We reside in London and wanted the marriage to be a fun, weeklong gathering abroad to unite us and friends all over the world. The villa we chose had all of the elements i was looking for; rustic yet elegant, encompassed by nature with a timeless feeling of Italian beauty bridesmaid dresses.
Our vendors were sourced both locally and from London. True to our exchange of cultures, Tim’s suit is made by Boggi (Italian) and my dress was Jenny Packham (England)!
We were keen to allow the venue and gardens speak for itself and stuck to greens, whites and hints of blush for warmth. We chose our photographer (Facibeni) in early stages as he knows the region well and may capture the special lighting that's unique in this part of the world.
Food and drink were key for all of us, so after many fun tastings, we hired a family-run caterer to prepare the marriage menu according to local ingredients, including freshly picked mountain berries for the wedding cake!
The little touches were also important for all of us; my veil was worn by Tim’s mother and sister on the wedding days and also the Orders of Service were produced by my mother, who's a painter.
So many highlights come to mind! Having all of our friends and family in one location felt surreal. Our priest, who had been flown in from England and it is fabulously eccentric. Singing The Beatles’ “Let it Be” for the final wedding hymn and our first dance, which we'd practiced a lot of times within our kitchen that people actually could completely relax and revel in. We especially loved the ice-cream cart and classic Italian swing band, which made it also believe like a celebration of summer!
I had heard this a lot of times before planning our wedding, but my biggest suggestion is to just benefit from the day and never worry if something doesn’t visit plan.
The thing is, your fascination with each other and anything else is secondary! Also, keep DIY to 1 or a couple of things only if you are able to; you'll be so busy in that a week ago that it’s vital that you have some time for you to focus on yourself.
We flew to Tanzania on safari your day after our champagne bridesmaid dresses. We had probably the most incredible some time and I would totally recommend it as being a honeymoon destination!
